Bonnyville, AB – The Bonnyville & District Leisure Facility Corporation, responsible for the management of the Centennial Centre, is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Kelly Skotnitsky as the C2 Centre’s new General Manager.
Elisa Brosseau, Mayor of the Town of Bonnyville and Board Chair of the Leisure Facility Corporation said, “We knew it would be very difficult to find an experienced candidate, so we solicited a professional search process to find a General Manager who would fully embrace our community, collaborate well with the leadership team and staff, engage with community partners, and effectively plan with the Board to co-develop and implement a sound operational and business model for our C2 Centre”.
Dana Swigart, Councillor with the MD of Bonnyville and Board member / co-hiring committee member with the Leisure Facility Corporation, added, “We had good interest from a number of quality candidates. The C2 Centre is a jewel for the community and region, so our focus was on an individual who can most effectively develop relationships to elevate the overall customer and community experience”.
Mr. Skotnitsky possesses a Bachelor of Physical Activity Studies – Recreation & Sports Administration from the University of Regina. He also possesses an array of operational and instruction licences and certifications relevant to arenas and recreation facilities. Kelly has over 25 years of managerial, administrative, and leadership experience in the sports/recreation sector. He has worked at Canlan Ice Sports (Sherwood Twin Arenas) in Regina, SK, and the Crosslink County Sportsplex in the County of Grande Prairie, AB. Kelly is departing the Town of Kindersley, SK, after four successful years as Director of Community Services managing the West Central Events Centre and outdoor fields.
Mr. Skotnitsky stated, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Kindersley working with the Klippers and other organizations. The Centennial Centre operations are similar to the Pontiacs, but also different and have a vision for growth. The opportunity really appealed to me, and I look forward to working with the team”.
Mr. Skotnsitsky’s start date as General Manager is Monday, September 30, 2024.
