Home to the Alberta Junior ‘A’ Hockey League Bonnyville Pontiacs, our arenas hosts minor sports, recreational leagues, regular public skating, and shinny hockey sessions during the ice season.

RJ LALONDE ARENA

With seating for over 1,800 and the ability to convert the ice surface for non-sporting events, it’s built to handle big crowds and even bigger moments.

Outdoor Community Rink

The Outdoor Community Rink is an open-air skating facility available free of charge. Complete with a heated skate shack, it operates daily from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM. Whether you’re practicing your skills or enjoying a game of shinny hockey, the rink provides an inclusive space for skaters of all ages. Unique guidelines, such as mandatory helmet use for skaters 12 and under, ensure everyone’s safety.

  • Helmets are required for all Shinny players and strongly recommended for public skates.

  • Full gear is required for youth in Stick & Puck/Shinny.

We have two NHL size indoor ice arenas:

  • R.J. Lalonde & Cenovus Arenas – Perfect for hockey games, tournaments, figure skating, and special events.

  • Children 8 and under must wear helmets on all arenas.
  • Adults supervising on the ice may wear clean shoes instead of skates.
  • Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed on the Leisure Pond.
  • For the Outdoor Community Rink, helmets are required for shinny hockey, and skaters 12 and under must wear helmets at all times.

Complete guidelines for each arena are posted on-site to ensure visitors’ safe and enjoyable experience.
